How To Clean Your Deck's Heads

TIPS FOR CLEANING DECK HEADS

Clean at least every 20-30 hours of use, more often if your swabs come
back dirty when you clean.

The best way to clean your heads is to use alcohol on cotton swabs.
Get as high a percentage alcohol as you can.  I use a premixed
"head cleaner" formula from Radio Shack that is made up of
several types of alcohol.

Be sure to clean your capstans as well.

OK, here's what you do :

       Dip the swab in the alcohol and sling off the excess,
       Carefully brush off/across the heads' surfaces and capstans
       Dry them with a dry swab 
       Use a rubber solvent on the pinch rollers
